In Times of Trouble

God Most High, have pity on me!
Have mercy. I run to you
for safety.
In the shadow of your wings,
I seek protection
till danger dies down.
I pray to you, my protector.
You will send help from heaven
and save me,
but you will bring trouble
on my attackers.
You are faithful,
and you can be trusted.

(Psalm 57:1-3)

Do you feel surrounded by your enemies? Do you feel like the walls are closing in on you? King David was all too familiar with this feeling and throughout his life he learned to trust God as He delivered him time after time from his enemies.

In 2 Samuel 5:22-25, we see one of many examples of how the Lord led David to many victories:

Some time later, the Philistines came back into the hill country and camped in Rephaim Valley. David asked the LORD what he should do, and the LORD answered:
Don't attack them from the front. Circle around behind and attack from among the balsam trees. Wait until you hear a sound like troops marching through the tops of the trees. Then attack quickly! That sound will mean I have marched out ahead of you to fight the Philistine army.
David obeyed the LORD and defeated the Philistines. He even chased them all the way from Geba to the entrance to Gezer.

(2 Samuel 5:22-25)

"That sound will mean I have marched out ahead of you to fight the Philistine Army."

As we can see here, the Lord was fighting David's battles and helping him to defeat his enemies. And the Lord will do the same for us.
When you find yourself surrounded by your enemies, let the Lord lead you to victory.
